The inaugural fly-past of the
Centennial Heritage Flight
For the first time in the
2009 Centennial of Flight Airshow season, a three-ship
formation consisting of the CF-18 Century Hornet, a Snowbird
Tutor repainted to the original Golden Centennaire colours
and the F-86 Hawk.
One Sabre flew for
Canadians to help commemorate 100 years of powered flight in
Canada. The formation, called the Centennial Heritage
Flight, flew its first fly-past at the Portage Armed Forces
Day over Southport airfield Sunday, 7 June.
Although the weather was
overcast and cool, the two-day show was well attended with
over 10,000 spectators throughout Manitoba and the
surrounding area.
The three-ship formation
did a high pass overhead Winnipeg before the Air Show at
Southport airfield.
